Course Description

Fellows Day gives each Florida Orthopaedic Institute fellow an opportunity to present the results of their year-long research project. The research project is a requirement as part of the fellowship curriculum to promote academic excellence. Stuart L. Weinstein, M.D., Ignacio V. Ponseti Chair and Professor of Orthopaedic Surgery at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics will serve as this year's Phillip Spiegel Memorial Guest Lecturer and will be joined by other keynote speakers. The course format mixes open discussion with case presentations and live lectures to discuss current state-of-the-art research and medical management of diverse surgical and non surgical issues.

Objectives

By the conclusion of this Continuing Medical Education activity, learners should be able to discuss current state of the art research to enhance competency in the following seven orthopaedic treatment areas: joint replacement, fracture management, complication management, soft tissue repair, bearing surfaces, biologics and motion preservation.

Target

Physicians, nurses, physician assistants and other healthcare professionals whose scope of practice incorporates treatment of orthopaedic ailments.

Accreditation

Physicians: Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education is accredited by the ACCME to provide Continuing Medical Education for physicians. Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education designates this educational activity for a maximum of 4.25 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Physician Assistants: The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Nursing Credit: For the purpose of re-certification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.
