Course Description

This course is designed to provide healthcare professionals with the most current information on every orthopaedic subspecialty. A distinguished faculty will present recent advances in pediatrics, trauma & fracture fixation, arthritis, joint reconstruction, sports-related conditions, spine surgery, biologics, and physical therapy. Participants will be given ample time for question and answer sessions and opportunities to interact with faculty.

 

Objectives

Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:

 

  • Discuss treatment options based on expert opinions in several
    orthopaedic sub-specialties
  • Review basic concepts and terminology in fracture cases
  • Evaluate diagnosis, work-up and treatment of musculoskeletal ailments
  • Develop new approaches to relieve pain and improve function in upper
    and lower extremities
  • Evaluate existing therapies to enhance treatment of the spine

Target

Primary care practitioners, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, and any allied healthcare professional whose scope of practice or profession includes orthopaedics.

 

Accreditation

Physicians: Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education is accredited by the ACCME to provide Continuing Medical Education for physicians. Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education designates this live activity for a maximum of 12 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Physician Assistants: The American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) accepts AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ from organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Nursing: For the purpose of recertification, the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) accepts AMA PRA Category 1Credits™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.
 
Occupational Therapist: For the purpose of recertification, the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) accepts AMA PRA Category 1Credits™ issued by organizations accredited by the ACCME.

Physical Therapists: Florida Board of Physical Therapy has approved this activity for 15 CE credits. Accreditation of this course does not necessarily imply the FPTA supports the views of the presenter or the sponsors.
 
Athletic Trainers:FORE is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education for Certified Athletic Trainers. This program has been approved for a maximum of (15.5) hours of Category A continuing education. Certified Athletic Trainers are responsible for claiming only those hours actually spent participating in the continuing education activity.
