USF Partners with FORE to Provide Top-Notch Education in Tampa

  • 2-24-2011

TAMPA (February 1, 2011) – The Foundation for Orthopaedic Research and Education (FORE) has established a partnership with the University of South Florida (USF) to host their USF orthopaedic residency anatomic dissection labs at the state-of-the-art Surgical Training Center at FORE. This partnership will give USF residents a hands-on mock operating room experience, allowing them to expand their knowledge and surgical techniques with world-renowned surgeons.

The Surgical Training Center at FORE will offer residents an opportunity to gain invaluable experience conducting anatomic dissections and mock surgical procedures using the best model available for orthopaedic surgery – fresh-frozen cadaveric specimens. “I personally don't know of a residency program that has an anatomy opportunity like FORE is offering,” said Ed Homan, MD of USF. Surgical training allows residents and surgeons the opportunity to improve and hone their skills, which can lead to better patient care. It is critical that surgeons are trained on the latest medical devices and surgical techniques in the constantly evolving field of orthopedics. FORE is matching corporate sponsors with each dissection lab to cover the tissue costs.
